The Pain Toolkit and Teesside University

It’s been brilliant working with The Pain Toolkit and Teesside University again on this amazing project with VR4rehab creating illustrations to help explain the twelve pain tools in their new VR cafe.

The tools provide useful strategies to help people self manage persistent pain and offer a positive approach to dealing with other issues in life too.

Initially the project was to produce a comic strip to encourage people to express their own descriptions of the pain they live with on a daily basis. The first challenge was to design a character that embodied pain itself. I really enjoyed finding a way to bring such an intangible subject to life through my illustrations.
